Nigerian security forces have intercepted a truck loaded with bomb-making materials near the volatile central city of Jos.
A military spokesman, Charles Ekeocha, says the truck was intercepted Friday at a security checkpoint as it was going from the city of Kaduna to Jos.
He says the vehicle contained bomb-making items such as ammonium nitrate, detonators and fuses. It is not clear who was transporting the materials.
Jos is the capital of Plateau State, the scene of deadly ethnic and religious fighting in recent weeks. The fighting has followed bombings in Jos more than two months ago that killed 80 people.
Periodic clashes between Christians and Muslims, mostly in and around Jos, have killed thousands of people in recent years.
Nigeria's 140 million people are divided about evenly between the two religious groups.
